Tools & Equipment

1
Non-stick Skillet
2
Spatula
3
Small Bowl or Ramekin (optional)

Ingredients

Main

  • 1
    2 unit Large Eggs
  • 2
    1 tablespoon tablespoon
  • 3
    0.03125 teaspoon Salt
  • 4
    0.03125 teaspoon Black Pepper

Directions

1

Preheat Skillet

Place a non-stick skillet over medium-low heat. Allow the pan to heat up slowly for about 2 minutes. Avoid using high heat as it can make the eggs cook unevenly or burn.

2

Add Fat to Skillet

Add 1 tablespoon of butter or cooking oil to the preheated skillet. Ensure the entire bottom of the pan is lightly coated. Wait until the butter melts and starts to shimmer or the oil is heated (you can test the oil by adding a drop of water - it should sizzle).

3

Add Eggs to Skillet

Carefully crack each egg into a small bowl or ramekin one at a time. This helps prevent any shell fragments from getting into the pan. Gently slide the eggs from the bowls into the hot pan. Keep them separate so they don’t run into each other.

Cook Egg Whites

Let the eggs cook undisturbed for 2-3 minutes. You'll see the whites starting to set and turn opaque. Use a spatula to gently lift the edge of one egg; if it releases easily from the pan, it’s ready to continue cooking.

5

Season Eggs

Season the eggs with a pinch of salt and a pinch of black pepper. If you like your yolks runny, cook for about another minute. For a more set yolk, cook for 2-3 more minutes, watching carefully to not overcook. You can also add a tablespoon of water to the pan and immediately cover to steam the eggs for a quick set on top.

6

Serve Eggs

Using a spatula, carefully slide the fried eggs out of the pan onto a plate. Be mindful that the pan is hot and the eggs are delicate.

Recipe Tips

  • Use fresh eggs for the best flavor and texture. Check the date on the carton to ensure freshness.
  • For a richer taste, use butter. For a lighter option, use olive oil or a non-stick cooking spray.
  • Don't overcrowd the pan. If making more than two eggs, cook them in batches to ensure even cooking.
  • Serve immediately for the best taste and texture. Add additional toppings such as hot sauce, cheese or fresh herbs to enhance the flavor.
  • To clean the skillet easily, let it cool slightly and then wash with warm soapy water.
  • Cook to desired doneness, keep an eye on the egg to avoid overcooking.
