Tools & Equipment

1
Blender
2
Measuring cups
3
Measuring spoons
4
Knife (for avocado if using whole)

Ingredients

Greens

  • 1
    2 cups Spinach
  • 2
    1 cup Kale

Liquid

  • 1
    1 cup Unsweetened Almond Milk

Fats & Protein

  • 1
    2 tablespoons Avocado
  • 2
    1 scoop Protein Powder

Flavor

  • 1
    0.5 tablespoon Lime Juice
  • 2
    0.25 teaspoon Ginger

Directions

1

Prepare Greens

Wash the spinach and kale thoroughly under cold running water. This removes any dirt or grit that might be present. Pat them dry with a clean towel or use a salad spinner to remove excess water. This helps prevent a watery smoothie.

2

Measure Liquid

Measure out 1 cup of unsweetened almond milk. You can also use other low carb milk alternatives like coconut milk or cashew milk if preferred, but almond milk keeps the calorie count low and tastes great. If you like a thicker consistency, consider using less almond milk.

3

Add Fats and Protein

If using a whole avocado, halve it, remove the pit, and scoop out 2 tablespoons of the flesh. If using pre-made avocado mash, measure directly. Add protein powder, if desired, to add protein to your smoothie, ensuring you pick a low carb or keto-friendly option.

4

Add Flavor

Measure out the lime juice and grated ginger. Freshly grated ginger is best but you can also use dried ginger. The lime and ginger provides a nice kick and helps balance the flavor of the greens.

5

Blend Ingredients

Place the washed spinach, kale, almond milk, avocado, protein powder, lime juice, and ginger into the blender. Secure the lid tightly. Blend on high speed for 30 to 60 seconds, or until the smoothie is completely smooth and creamy. If needed, pause to scrape down the sides of the blender with a spatula and blend again to remove any chunks.

6

Serve Immediately

Pour the smoothie into a glass or shaker cup and drink immediately for the best flavor and texture. If not consumed right away, it can be stored in the fridge for a few hours. Please be aware that the texture and color may change over time.

Recipe Tips

  • Use frozen greens for a colder and thicker smoothie.
  • Adjust the amount of liquid to reach your desired consistency.
  • Add ice for a colder smoothie.
  • Add a touch of stevia for sweetness.
  • Store in an airtight container in the fridge for no more than 24 hours.
