Ingredients

Steak Tips

  • 1
    1.5 pounds steak tips

Garlic Butter

  • 1
    0.5 cup unsalted butter
  • 2
    4 each cloves garlic
  • 3
    0.25 cup fresh parsley
  • 4
    0.5 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 5
    0.5 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 6
    0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 7
    0.25 teaspoon black pepper

Directions

1

Prep the Steak

Take the steak tips out of the refrigerator about 20-30 minutes before cooking to allow them to come closer to room temperature. This helps them cook more evenly. Do not leave them out for longer than 2 hours for food safety.

2

Prepare the Garlic Butter Ingredients

Mince the garlic cloves finely. If you don't have a garlic press, you can use a knife. Be careful when chopping, always keep your fingers tucked away from the blade. Chop fresh parsley. Measure out the lemon juice, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes.

3

Make Garlic Butter

In a small saucepan over low heat, melt the butter. Do not let it boil. Add the minced garlic and red pepper flakes to the melted butter. Saute for about 1-2 minutes, until the garlic becomes fragrant and translucent. Be cautious, the pan and butter will be hot.

4

Finish Garlic Butter Sauce

Remove the saucepan from the heat. Stir in the chopped parsley, lemon juice, salt and black pepper. Set the garlic butter aside.

5

Preheat the Skillet

Heat a large skillet (cast iron is preferable, but any heavy-bottomed skillet will work) over medium-high heat. Add about 1 tablespoon of cooking oil or use a spray. The pan is ready when a drop of water sizzles and evaporates quickly.

6

Sear the Steak Tips

Carefully place the steak tips in the hot skillet. Do not overcrowd the pan; cook in batches if necessary. Sear the steak tips for about 2-3 minutes on each side, until they are nicely browned. The outside should have a deep color.

7

Cook the Steak Tips in Garlic Butter

Reduce the heat to medium-low. Pour the garlic butter over the seared steak tips. Continue to cook for another 4-6 minutes, or until the steak tips reach your desired level of doneness. For medium-rare, an internal temperature of 130-135°F is recommended. Use a meat thermometer to check the temperature. Be careful not to overcook, or it will get tough and dry.

8

Rest the Steak Tips

Remove the steak tips from the skillet and transfer them to a plate. Let the steak tips rest for 5 minutes to allow the juices to redistribute, resulting in a more tender and flavorful steak.

9

Serve and Garnish

Serve the garlic butter steak tips immediately. Garnish with extra fresh parsley if desired. Serve the garlic butter steak tips with your choice of side dishes such as mashed potatoes, roasted vegetables or a fresh salad.

Recipe Tips

  • For the best flavor, use high-quality steak tips. Look for well-marbled pieces.
  • Make sure the skillet is hot before adding the steak tips to get a good sear.
  • Do not overcrowd the pan when searing the steak tips; cook in batches if needed.
  • Adjust the amount of red pepper flakes to your preference for spiciness.
  • Store leftover steak tips in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • Always use a meat thermometer to ensure the steak is cooked to a safe internal temperature, especially for medium or well-done.
  • Clean the skillet promptly after cooking while it is still warm, as the garlic can stick if it cools down.
  • If you are using a cast iron skillet, avoid using soap for cleaning; simply wipe it clean with a paper towel, or scrub with salt and oil.
